Founding Director SILVERDOCS

AFI/Discovery Channel Documentary Festival

Seavey was the Founding Director and Executive Producer of SILVERDOCS beginning in 1998 through 2007. Under her leadership, the festival was conceived, launched, and grew into the largest documentary festival in the nation. As a centerpiece of the festival, Seavey created the Charles Guggenheim Symposium, an honor bestowed on an esteemed non-fiction filmmaker as an annual tribute to Seavey’s prolific mentor, Guggenheim, who received 12 Academy Award nominations with 4 Oscar wins. In 2013 the festival was rebranded and is now known as AFI Docs.
